artNEWS:
dec/jan 2009: the powerhouse economies have seen a steady & continous growth while art auctions have seen some record highs this month. in general, art has increased at a steady rate of 10% this month (over the previous month) but in the Middle East & East there have been some huge rises as prominent collectors get in ahead of the rush. my clearence prices can only last another month or so as new stock will be arriving at the beginning of 2010. this is the LAST CHANCE to grab these pieces at these prices. art will be reserved on a strictly first come, first served basis.

a brief note about roy lichtenstein: roy lichtenstein, along with andy warhol were the original exponents of popart in the 50's. in a movement that was in stark contrast to the more self-indulgent 'abstract expressionism', popart stood as a critique on mass consumerism. the actual testament, to this movement, is it's true realization and relevence on todays 'fame' obsessed culture. lichtenstein has had a powerful & lasting effect, on contemporary artists today. the new grafitti style owes it's roots in pop art & it's nature to be able to take on a social, political, economic & satrical dimension. |
